ABOUT THE PRINT:
"I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy." -- Dorothy Parker
Do you hate happy? Does joy annoy you? Is snark more your style? Introducing "Drink" from the series "Posters for Pessimists, an Antidote to Optimism". If this doesn't crush your spirit, nothing will.
The mini-bio at the bottom of the print reads:
Dorothy Parker was an American poet, short story writer, screenwriter, and critic best known for her wit and clever wisecracks. She was a founding member of the Algonquin Round Table, a “vicious circle” of friends who for 10 years met for lunch at New York’s Algonquin Hotel to swap quips and witty barbs. Parker wrote for several major magazines including Vanity Fair, Vogue, and The New Yorker, then moved to Hollywood and signed with Paramount Pictures. She was nominated for two Academy Awards, one for her 1937 screenplay for A Star is Born, but during the McCarthy era, she was accused of being a Communist and was blacklisted. Increasingly dependent on alcohol at the end of her life, Parker downplayed her talent and said, “I was just a little Jewish girl trying to be cute.”
